Woodcutter’s Blanket seeks a Head Chef to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon. The ideal candidate has extraordinary attention to detail, focus, and strong kitchen management experience. This role requires dedication, passion, creativity, and the ability to persevere while constantly striving to maintain the standards of Woodcutter’s and our leaders.

  • Owner(s)

Job Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations.

  • Liaising with the relevant companies for food orders.

  • Creating new dishes and menus while keep a high quality.

  • Ensure promptness, freshness and quality of all dishes.

  • Coordinating cooks’ tasks and teaching where needed.

  • Standardize menu costing procedure for every plate.

  • Design standardized food presentation guidelines for each dish

  • Interviewing and hiring new staff.

  • Maintaining/raising the food’s profit margins.

  • Monitoring and controlling stock levels.

  • Ensuring correct stock rotation procedures are followed.

  • Implementation of health and safety procedures in the kitchen.

  • Estimating costs and ensuring all purchases come within budget.

  • Coordinating private events and menus.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of Human Resource Management.

  • Excellent knowledge of BOH systems, ordering and inventory.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Available to work on call, shifts, after hours, over weekends and on public holidays.

  • Ability to track expenses and manage budgets.

  • Leader who can inspire teams.

  • Strong passion for culinary exploration and food design.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in kitchen management/leadership role.
